Personal-The son of Kelly and Tammy Ward, Alex was born Oct. 1, 1987, in Des Moines, Iowa. His father, Kelly, was a national champion wrestler at Iowa State in 1979 and a former Nebraska assistant coach. Alex has one brother, Ben (15). Alex has not declared a major at Nebraska.
